Please join us in welcoming Australian cycling legend Peta Mullens to the elite starting grid for SEVEN 2024, and to our pre and post-race commentary team!
With a career spanning more than two decades, Peta is one of Australia’s most respected and decorated multi-disciplinary cycling stars, with no less than 12 National Championships under her belt across the disciplines of Road, MTB and Cyclo Cross, not to mention some early success in mountain running and triathlon.
Peta is one of our SEVEN 2024 Ambassadors, and she will be encouraging women of all ages and abilities to sign up and join her out on course. We couldn’t think of a better Australian Ambassador for this mission; Peta’s reputation as a selfless and inspirational leader is renown. As one of the Directors of the Roxsolt Liv SRAM team, her team mates call her ‘Mum’. Building bridges for opportunity has been central to her role, and we feel this fits perfectly with what we hope to achieve with SEVEN Gravel Race.
It’s passion that fuels Peta on the bike…any bike!. As she explained in Liv Cycling Stories of Commitment, “No one I know loves cycling more than I do. I’m all in for bunch rides and cafe stops, trail-shredding, and slow night rides.” We think she’s going to fit right with our SEVEN Gravel Race community, and we can’t wait to see her ‘all in’ in our playground.
We’re fortunate that Peta will be in Australia in May, as she was honoured with an invitation to compete in the 2024 Life Time Grand Prix in the US, where she’ll race in seven iconic off-road events over seven months (notice the ‘seven’ theme here?). Her appearance at SEVEN Gravel Race will fit in between the Sea Otter Classic in April and Unbound Gravel in June. What a ride it’s going to be in 2024!
And although she’s yet to win a national gravel title, we can’t help but think one isn’t too far away. As a former winner of the gruelling 9-day Tour de Timor, the climbing nature of the SEVEN course should hold no fears for Peta. However, one couldn’t blame her for having a little in trepidation about joining our commentary team!
