JOIN OUR CHECKPOINT CHEER SQUADS!

If you’re a spectator or supporter at SEVEN, why not join us at a checkpoint and cheer on the riders? You can get out and watch your riders in action, cheer them on, and be back at the Event Village in time for their big finish. It’s a great day out in the Blackwood Bike Park!

CHECKPOINTS ACCESSIBLE ALONG BALINGUP-NANNUP ROAD

The following checkpoints are easily accessible to all spectators and supporters by driving along Balingup-Nannup Road and parking in the designated areas. At all times, please follow any instructions from the traffic controllers and checkpoint crew members on site. You can view the location of these checkpoints on the SEVEN Operational Map.

Reveley Bridge Checkpoint

Only 10km from the Event Village (Nannup Recreation Centre) along Balingup-Nannup Road, you’ll see the left turn onto the Reveley Bridge at Agg Road. This is the location of the Reveley Bridge Checkpoint, which sees action for the entire day. This is where THREE riders cross Balingup-Nannup Road between 7:30 and 8:50am to make their way towards Glacier Valley, while the SEVEN and FIVE riders turn left at the checkpoint between 7:30 and 8:20am to head towards the Brockman Sector. It’s also the place where THREE, FIVE and SEVEN riders descend off Butte Road, cross Balingup-Nannup Road, and ride past the checkpoint between 8:45am and 4pm as they make their final push for home through the Reveley Sector. If you join us at the Reveley Bridge Checkpoint, please drive with extreme caution, and obey all directions of the traffic controllers and crew members. Riders will be crossing the road at this very point and we must all do our bit to ensure their safety.

Lewana Cottages Halfway Point & Rider Feed Zone

26.5km from the Event Village along Balingup-Nannup Road, you’ll see the the first signs for Lewana Cottages. This is the location of the Halfway Checkpoint and Rider Feed Zone. Slow down and be prepared to park your vehicle in the ‘Event Parking’ area on the left hand side of Balingup-Nannup Road, directly opposite the Cottages. Do not turn right onto Spruce Road and do not enter the property itself. Walk across Balingup-Nannup Road, and you will be welcomed into the Spectator Zone by our friendly checkpoint crew. We expect our first FIVE riders to enter the checkpoint at around 9am, and our first SEVEN riders at around 9:30am. This is a dynamic and exciting checkpoint. Come and watch as the front runners sprint through Lewana Cottages, on their way into The Labyrinth Sector. Stay on and cheer the rest of the riders as they approach, enter the bike drop zone and collect their food before heading out on course again. See the site map below.

CHECKPOINTS ON THE CLOSED COURSE

There are three checkpoints on course that are only accessible to official checkpoint teams: they are not accessible to general spectators or supporters. You must register as a volunteer and travel in a convoy with our Checkpoint Managers to reach them. It’s worth the effort though…we can guarantee a few amazing hours of cycling action and magnificent viewing. It’s an incredible day out!

The Crucible – active from 8:35am to 10:35am

The Crucible Checkpoint is at one of the four highest points on course, at the 39km mark for FIVE and SEVEN riders. This checkpoint is active from 8:35am to 10:35am. The view from this checkpoint is absolutely breathtaking. You can see riders climbing and descending for miles, not only through The Crucible Sector, but also across the valley and up into The Labyrinth Sector.

Ellis Creek – active from 9:50am to 1:30pm

The Ellis Creek Checkpoint is at the 77.4km mark for SEVEN riders. This is another of our highest points, with amazing views of the Ellis Creek Climb, and across the valley to The Crucible. You can watch riders climbing on both sides of the valley for almost four hours!

Glacier Valley – active from 8:05am to 3pm

This is the final high checkpoint on course…and it’s a busy one! It’s at the 23.75km mark for THREE riders, 62.4km for FIVE riders, and 96.8km SEVEN riders. For seven hours, the riders of THREE, FIVE and SEVEN will ride through this checkpoint from different directions. The Hawaiian Ride for Youth team will be managing this checkpoint, and by registering as a volunteer on crew, you can join them.
